In Kentucky, people still leave traps out to catch wildlife. Horribly cruel to wildlife and to the unsuspecting dog that gets caught in one too. Scooby, a young pit bull mix, was brought to a shelter by someone who had found him in the woods behind their home, screaming in pain, as he was caught in a wildlife trap by his front left foot.

Scooby had been chewing on his foot and ate one of his toes off. VTTR was called and surgery was performed to amputate the remainder of the half-eaten toe. Scooby was very difficult to keep clean and contained at the shelter and the wound was not healing. Scooby went into foster care, and after a two month recovery, finally had a functional foot, albeit minus a toe!

Scooby had some behavior issues, and after one failed adoption attempt he managed to convince his foster that he was already in a permanent home. Scooby now lives with his four sisters, at times driving them crazy, on a horse farm in Lexington, living his best life!
